Paint Decor Studio

This is a series of photos of some fun murals I did for the Erie, Colorado Goddard School. The commute on this project was a killer as I am a Denver based muralist and Erie is quite far north but it was worth every minute in the car.

The owner gave each classroom a bear name so we painted that bear outside the room along with a scientifically appropriate tree (the koala in a eucalyptus tree etc). She also wanted to incorporate a lesson about the seasons in the murals so the bears in the front of the school have ‘springtime trees’ and, as you walk down the hall the seasons progress.  The last classroom is the Polar Bears (in winter of course).  Because we were doing a bear theme and because it was a preschool there could have been no better inspiration than the illustrations of Jane Chapman. Her animals are sweet and gentle without being cartoony and that was perfect for this school.  If you have little ones, even if you don’t, buy her books.  They are lovely!
